OUR TEACHING ARTISTS

Making Books Sing has an exceptional roster of gifted teaching artists. As working actors, directors, playwrights and dramaturgs, they bring to the classroom an expertise in their artform, a passionate belief in the importance of arts in education and at least five years experience as teaching artists. They are skilled at building a safe, nurturing environment in which children's imaginations can bring a book to life. We provide them with professional development and support to ensure that their work in the classroom is at its very finest.

OUR HISTORY

In 1996, Making Books Sing was launched as the family theatre and arts education program of New York City's Vineyard Theatre, one of Off Broadway's most accomplished theatres. Begun as a pilot program, we involved just 180 students and teachers in our first year. Today, Making Books Sing is a dynamic, independent organization that will serve over 12,000 kids and adults in the coming year.
