IF YOU REALLY LOVE POLAR BEARS...


Meet Patchy…he is a little boy who is obsessed with polar bears! His daily routine is filled with activities that celebrate his favorite ice bear…but at what cost? Did you know that our habits affect animals’ habitats? While traveling on a magical journey into the past, present and future, Patchy learns firsthand how much of an impact he has on the planet.

This interactive story is told through music, puppetry and physical comedy!

If You Really Love Polar Bears was commissioned by the Wildlife Conservation Society and has been presented at:

  • Bronx Zoo
  • Staten Island Zoo
  • Brooklyn Children's Museum
  • Central Park Zoo
  • NY Hall of Science
  • American Museum of Natural History
  • Schools all over the NYC tri-state area

 

FOR EDUCATORS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS

Educational Goals:
To introduce students to:

· Causes and effects of climate change

· Humans’ impact on animals’ habitats and the environment

· Children’s important role in conservation

Target Audience:
1st-4th grade

Residency:
A Literature at Play residency, in which a class-chosen book with a related theme is adapted into a play, is also available to schools who wish to extend the program. A recommended book list and Resource Guide will be provided to teachers.

Price:
$500 per performance (maxium 3 classes per performance—85 participants total)

If You Really Love Polar Bears is available year-round for performances at schools and community centers.
